Master System Powerbase 1

The original PowerBase, and the better of the two. It includes a cartridge and card slot, reset and pause buttons, RF and AV out, 2 control pad ports

The Powerbase 1 looks very sleek and hi-tech, far more attractive than the NES!! To me it is the best computer / console design ever. I love the angular and perfectly smooth sides, the overall shape, it is just perfect! No other console comes close in my opinion!

Originally Sega packaged the machine with a game cartridge or card, but later changed to including a game in ROM which automatically loaded if no card / cartridge was inserted. This was presumably done to save costs.

The PowerBase 1 in the UK came packaged with the following games:

• No game in ROM, Hang On (Sega Card). (Later replaced by Outrun, Space Harrier or Rocky carts in 1988)
• Alex Kidd in Miracle World (ROM). - "Base System".
• HangOn and Safari Hunt (ROM). - "Master System Plus" inc Light Phaser.
• Missile Defense 3D (ROM). - "Super System" inc Light Phaser and 3D glasses.

In addition all PowerBase 1's have "Snail Race" built in as a hidden game. Switch the system on and hold up and buttons 1 + 2 and it will scroll on from the left!
